Role Overview
We are seeking a Backend Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is passionate about building scalable, secure, and high-performing backend systems. You will work closely with product managers, front-end developers, and other stakeholders to power the next generation of platforms across Thelix Holdings’ portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize scalable and maintainable backend systems across a range of products.
- Develop and manage RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs to enable smooth communication between backend and frontend layers.
- Integrate with front-end applications and third-party services, ensuring seamless functionality and data flow.
- Maintain databases (SQL/NoSQL), ensuring data integrity, security, and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features that align with business goals.
- Ensure the performance, responsiveness, and reliability of backend applications and services.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing systems, and participate in system upgrades as needed.
- Participate in code reviews, enforce best practices, and mentor junior engineers as part of a growing team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in backend development using languages such as Python, Node.js, Java, or Go.
- Experience with relational and/or non-relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
- Proficiency in designing and consuming APIs (REST or GraphQL).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Understanding of security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and data protection.
- Solid grasp of performance tuning, scalability, and monitoring for backend systems.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in startup or multi-product environments.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Exposure to serverless architecture or microservices.
- Strong interest in any of Thelix’s focus areas: EdTech, CareerTech, FinTech, Cybersecurity, or ImmigrationTech.
